University of Buffalo News reports that Lewy body dementia and Parkinson’s disease dementia (PDD) are quite common, but understudied, types of dementia. PDD patients are often prescribed medications for psychosis and Alzheimer’s disease; there are no medications designed specifically to treat these illnesses. PPD impacts an estimated 1.4 million Americans. Eli Lilly has launched a trial to address these conditions and the University of Buffalo is one of 72 sites participating in the randomized, placebo-controlled trial.
