UK Clinical Trial to Determine if Cancer Can Be Detected in the Breath

Jan 5, 2019 | Cancer Diagnostic

Cancer Research UK and sponsor Owlstone Ltd. are running a clinical trial involving breath samples from 1,500 participants. The samples will be collected in the hope that odorous molecules called volatile organic compounds (VOCs) can be detected. If this trial proves successful, it would mean that cancer could be identified quickly before it has spread—making it easier to treat and potentially improve survival rates.
