CBS 2 Idaho News reports that Idaho College of Medicine opened up its new research lab. A 1,870 square foot facility, it features the following:
- Wet and dry bench space
- Complies with standards of Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) designation (covers labs working with agents associated with human diseases that pose a moderate health hazard such as HIV)
- Biosafety committee oversees all laboratory research along with appropriate storage and disposal of material
- The new lab is open to support investigative activities concerning biomedical sciences, clinical trials and patient care. It is Idaho’s first and only medical school and they are looking to collaborate with other universities.
