Society for Clinical Research Sites is an association dedicated to clinical research sites. Tragically, their founder Christine Pierre passed away recently. Ms. Pierre was an impressive individual—although this author only met her a couple times at conferences, we know she drove substantial momentum and activity in a very short period and surely will be missed by many people. Sponsor to site payment terms are suboptimal—often based on unsustainable intervals such as quarterly or even 6 months. It is difficult to run a commercial site under these terms. The quarterly payment model forces sites to cover operational costs via credit cards, personal loans, etc. Review the “Metrics that Matter” segment for more on this important topic.
