The Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC), Philippines has found sufficient basis to move to trial the damage suit filed against officer of Sanofi Pasteur Inc (makers of Dengvaxia) and distributor Zuellig Pharma Corporation. This results from the deaths of many children, covered by TrialSite News, from a dengue vaccine clinical trial in the Philippines.
The kin of Abbie Hedia have filed the damages suit. Her death, her family claims, was caused by the dengue vaccine Dengvaxia. To date no scientific proof has been established to link the vaccine to the deaths reports Rappler.com.
Sanofi Pasteur Disclosures
The French pharmaceutical and vaccine company did disclose that the clinical trial results found that Dengvaxia could result in a more severe dengue syndrome for those who had not had dengue before.
The plaintiffs charge that Sanofi Pasteur and Zuellig risked public health by continuing the production of Dengvaxia despite red flags in the clinical trial stage. Moreover they allege that the French pharma and distributor made no offers of assistance to children whose deaths are being linked to the vaccine.
