San Antonio Military-based Trial Site Organizations Enrolling Participants for AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine Trial

San Antonio area Brooke Army Medical Center and Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center, both Department of Defense-owned and operated trial site locations participate in AstraZeneca’s recently resumed Phase 3 clinical trial investigating the safety and efficacy of AZD1222 or the “Oxford Vaccine”, considered one of the leaders in the pack of Phase 3 vaccine candidates. Supported by Operation Warp Speed (OWS), that POTUS-initiated national public-private partnership to accelerate vaccine, therapeutic and diagnostics development during the pandemic. These centers need support in identifying, qualifying and enrolling candidates to participate in this mission-critical clinical trial.

Recently local news KSAT 12 reported on the centers’ efforts to recruit volunteers for this important study. The local news also reminded the viewer that other important DOD sites were involved in this study, including Naval Medical Center San Diego, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, and Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in Virginia.
