SC Liver Research Consortium (SC Liver) and Perspectum Diagnostics have developed a major US-based clinical network to provide clinical trials services that support the development of drugs for liver disorders reports a recent press release. SC Liver is an organization of physicians specializing in hepatology and gastroenterology clinical research. They seek to team research sponsors and their network of over 85 research sites together to provide faster, higher-quality research results compared to the conventional sponsor-site arrangement. Their expertise and resources provide scientific expertise in study design, efficient site selection, streamlined contract and budget negotiations and professional support throughout the clinical trial.
Perspectum Diagnostics was founded in Oxford in 2012 after a ground-breaking study demonstrated the potential of T1 mapping to predict liver fibrosis. It’s mission is to bring new ways of accurately diagnosing liver disease to tackle the growing liver disease crisis—predicted to lead to more cases of serious liver damage and need for liver transplants. Their work concentrates on the detection and accurate, quantitative measurement of liver, gallbladder and pancreatic disease, including precancerous and cancerous states.
The coming together of these two organizations represent a significant milestone for the liver research community. The collaboration had already led to well-trained sites and centers leading to high-performing sites available for commercial sponsors. The collaborative effort has onboarded the following research sites:
- Gulf Cost Research (Houston, TX)
- Cincinnati Clinical Research (Cincinnati, OH)
- Digestive Healthcare of Georgia (Atlanta, GA)
- Baylor University (Dallas, TX)
- Cedar-Sinai Medical Center (Los Angeles, CA)
- Indiana University School of Medicine (Indianapolis, IN)
- Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, VA)
