Jessica Davis, writing for HealthIT News, reports that hackers forced one of the world’s largest clinical laboratories to shutdown to contain the cyber-attack.  LabCorp filed a report with the Securities Exchange Commission:

Davis pens “according to its site, LabCorp services more than 115 million patient encounters annually, which potentially put all of those patient records at risk if they were located on the impacted network.”  The suspicious activity was reported at its laboratory operations and not its’ Covance CRO operation.
