Data Fabrications in Underlying Research Cause Halt to Major NIH Stem Cell Trial

Nov 1, 2018 | Clinical Trials, Data Integrity

The scientific foundation of an NIH National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute clinical trial has been called into question based on a Harvard investigation into research papers originating from the laboratory of Piero Anversa.  As reported in the Washington Post, investigators have been pushing for the trial to be stopped based on the Harvard investigation uncovered “false and/or fabricated data.”

The recent decision for a temporary stop originates from National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute concern for “abundance of caution.”  The trial NHLBI notes is not directly based on Anversa’s work.
