JD News reports the United Arab Emirates has donated a financial gift to help open a pediatric medical research facility at the hold Walter Reed A Medical Center Site in the District.  Affiliated with the Children’s National Medical Center, the facility will open in 2020 on about 12 acres in Washington DC.  The new Children’s National Research and Innovation Campus will research rare childhood diseases and maintain an outpatient clinic.

The United Arab Emirates is donating $30 million; the Arab nation gave $150 million 10 years ago for the Pediatric Surgical Innovation just a few miles away.  Strategically placed, the campus is in the “sweet spot of innovation” adjacent to the National Institutes of Health, the University of Maryland and the U.S. Patient and Trademark Office among other institutions in the area.
