Geoffrey Y. Ku, MD, is a medical oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY.  Dr. Ku specializes in the treatment of malignancies of the gastrointestinal tract including esophageal tumors. Although the treatment of squamous esophageal tumors hasn’t changed much in the last 40 years, new treatment options are emerging. One such advancement is anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) receptor antibodies and immunotherapy, which may have the potential to alter the standard of care.  Follow the link to Cancer Network to read an interesting question and answer session with Dr. Ku. Anyone that has a loved one that is fighting an esophageal tumor should read this.
